Blue Bell Ice Cream is recalling a limited batch of its half-gallon containers after a labeling mistake could put people with nut allergies at risk.

The company announced Friday that some cartons of Moo-llennium Crunch Ice Cream were accidentally packaged in Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough containers.

While the lid read Moo-llennium Crunch, the carton itself did not list the nuts inside, creating a serious risk for customers with allergies, FoxBusiness said.

"The recalled product may contain almonds, walnuts, and pecans that are not declared on the label," the company said. "People with allergies to these ingredients could face a serious or life-threatening reaction if consumed."

The mix-up was discovered by a Blue Bell employee who noticed the error while restocking ice cream at a retailer.

The recalled containers can be identified by the code 061027524, printed on the top of the lid.

No Illnesses Reported in Blue Bell Recall, Company Says

The recall affects products distributed in 16 states, including Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, the Florida Panhandle, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Walmart confirmed that the mislabeled half gallons were sold at select locations across those areas.

Blue Bell emphasized that no illnesses or allergic reactions linked to the recalled ice cream have been reported so far.

Still, the company is urging anyone who purchased the affected containers to return them to the store for a full refund.

According to Hoodline, customers who need more information can contact Blue Bell directly at 979-836-7977 or by emailing consumerrelations@bluebell.com.

This is not the first time food recalls have made headlines in recent months, but Blue Bell acted quickly to correct the issue.

The company, based in Brenham, Texas, said the error was limited to a small number of half-gallon containers.
