AT&T is set to pay $177 million to settle lawsuits after two major data breaches affected millions of its customers.
If you had an AT&T account during these incidents, you might be eligible to receive thousands of dollars in compensation.
According to USA Today, the first breach happened on March 30, 2024, when sensitive customer information like addresses, Social Security numbers, birthdates, passcodes, billing numbers, and phone numbers was leaked on the dark web.
A second breach occurred on July 12, 2024, involving the illegal download of limited data, including phone records and information about customers and their contacts.
US District Judge Ada E. Brown gave preliminary approval to the settlement on June 20, 2025.
The settlement divides the payout into two parts: $149 million covers the 2019 data breach (which was revealed in 2024), and $28 million addresses the 2024 breach involving phone records.
If you were affected by the March 30 breach, you could claim up to $5,000 if you provide proof of loss, such as documents showing you suffered from the breach.
Without proof, you may qualify for smaller tiered payments depending on whether your Social Security number was involved.
AT&T will pay $177 million in a class action settlement related to separate alleged data breaches last year.

AT&T Customers Can Claim Up to $7,500 for Data Breach Compensation
For the July 12 breach, affected customers can claim up to $2,500 with documentation, or receive a smaller, shared payment if they cannot prove losses.
People impacted by both breaches may be able to claim up to $7,500 by filing for compensation from each settlement class. However, the exact payout depends on how many claims are filed.
To file a claim, you must submit it by November 18, 2025, CNET said. Claims can be made online at telecomdatasettlement.com or mailed to Kroll Settlement Administration, the company handling the process.
You will need your "Class Member ID," which AT&T customers should have received by email or mail. If you didn't get one, you can call 833-890-4930 or write to:
AT&T Data Incident Settlement
c/o Kroll Settlement Administration LLC
P.O. Box 5324
New York, NY 10150-5324
Since the settlement website can experience heavy traffic, patience may be necessary when submitting your claim online.
These breaches impacted millions of AT&T customers and former account holders.
In the 2019 breach, millions of current and former users had their data exposed, while the 2024 breach affected the phone records of over 100 million customers.
After these incidents, AT&T took measures like resetting passwords for affected accounts.
