Kraft Heinz Recall: What to Know About Listeria Symptoms
According to the FSIS, Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause listeriosis, a serious illness.
People most at risk include older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and anyone with a weakened immune system.
People affected might experience symptoms like fever, muscle pain, nausea, and vomiting. In more severe cases, it can lead to headaches, confusion, stiff neck, loss of balance, or even convulsions.
Pregnant women are especially at risk, as the illness can cause miscarriages or stillbirths.
FSIS is reminding consumers that some of the recalled turkey bacon might still be sitting in their fridges or freezers at home.
If you have any of the affected turkey bacon, do not eat it. Instead, throw it away or return it to the store where it was bought.
Kraft Heinz has set up a hotline for consumers who have questions.
If you have questions or need help, you can call 1-800-280-7185 or send an email to consumerrelations@kraftheinz.com.
This recall is part of an ongoing effort to keep the public safe from contaminated food. Though no illnesses have been confirmed, health officials want to act before anyone gets sick.
