Starbucks is making it easier for customers to understand what they're paying for. On Tuesday, the coffee chain announced changes to how it prices popular drink add-ons like syrups, sauces, matcha, and dried fruit.

The updates are part of a new effort to make pricing more clear and consistent across all its stores.

According to CBS News, Starbucks will now charge a flat fee of 80 cents for any combination of syrups or sauces added to an unflavored drink.

Previously, each addition came with its own cost, which sometimes caught customers by surprise. Now, whether you add one or three syrups, the total add-on cost stays the same.

Another update affects matcha lovers. If you want to add a scoop of matcha powder to a non-matcha drink, it'll now cost $1. And if you're a fan of dried fruit in your drinks, expect to pay 50 cents per scoop.

Not all changes will cost extra, though. The company said its Classic syrup, which is similar to liquid sugar, will remain free in any beverage.

And if a drink already comes with a flavor—like a Mocha Frappuccino—customers can swap the original syrup or sauce for another one at no added cost.

Starbucks Tests New Feature for Mobile App

Alongside the pricing changes, Starbucks is testing a new feature in its mobile app. This feature will show real-time price updates as customers build their orders.

That means no more waiting until checkout to see how much your custom drink costs.

A Starbucks spokesperson explained that this "limited customer test" aims to bring more transparency and make ordering easier for everyone, BusinessInsider said.

These updates are part of a bigger effort by new CEO Brian Niccol, who joined Starbucks in September.

His goal is to refresh the brand, boost customer satisfaction, and drive up sales. He also wants stores to be more welcoming and enjoyable for guests.

In recent months, Starbucks has made several changes, including tweaks to its rewards program and updates to its leadership.
