Miami has experienced a 50% rise in its freelance workforce and associated revenue over the past five years.

According to a new report by Fiverr International,  the number of freelance workers in Miami has grown by 50%, reaching a total of 291,321 independent professionals. 

The South Florida Business Journal reported that this surge in freelancers has been accompanied by an 88% increase in revenue, which now totals $15.7 billion annually.

This growth places Miami among the leading cities in the United States for both freelance population and revenue expansion. The report, which draws on various data sources, including the US Census Bureau, highlighted the significant contributions of freelancers to the local economy.

Revenue Generated by Freelancers

The revenue generated by freelancers in Miami reportedly comes from diverse sectors. Creative workers have contributed approximately $1.3 billion, with 36,791 individuals working in this field. 

Technical workers, numbering 88,993, have generated about $6.4 billion in revenue. Professional workers, with 165,537 freelancers, make up the largest group, producing $8 billion in revenue.
