Former President Donald Trump's election campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) disclosed on Saturday that they collectively raised more than $76 million in April, a notable increase from March's fundraising total of $65.6 million.
According to Reuters, the monthly fundraising haul included a significant portion, or more than half, from small donors.
In a statement, Trump campaign senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles said: "With half of funds raised coming from small dollar donors, it is clear that our base is energized. The Republican Party is united, and voters nationwide are ready to FIRE Joe Biden and elect Donald J. Trump."
Joe Biden's re-election campaign has consistently outpaced Donald Trump's fundraising efforts in the lead-up to the November election. The announcement on Saturday coincided with a retreat hosted by Trump and the RNC in Florida, attended by influential donors and political figures.
This gathering was anticipated to bolster Trump's financial standing, which has been drained by legal expenses due to the former president's legal challenges, including a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.
