A middle-aged businessman in Pakistan was allegedly shot dead by his cousin outside his house in the upscale Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in ​​Karachi City in the early hours of Sunday.

According to The Express Tribune, the assailant fired a barrage of gunfire outside the residence of the victim, identified as 45-year-old Humayun, at Khayaban-e-Janbaz in DHA's Phase V. 

Humayun died on the spot after being shot multiple times, while his companion, Hammam Javed, sustained minor injuries in the assault. According to local police, the suspected assailant, identified as Fahad Khan, alias Fadi, reportedly bore a personal grudge against the victim, who happened to be his cousin and friend. 

A Darakhshan police spokesman said a verbal altercation escalated to a fatal shooting when Fahad confronted the businessman outside his house. A father of two and a prominent businessman, Humayun owned a motorcycle showroom at Akbar Market in Saddar. The accused killer shared familial ties with the victim.

What Eyewitnesses Saw in Pakistan Shooting

Eyewitnesses told The Express Tribune that the confrontation originated during a gathering near Sea View when an argument started between the businessman and his cousin. Despite attempts by others to calm the situation, their confrontation escalated upon their return to Humayun's home.

After receiving reports about the shooting incident, the Darakhshan police promptly went to the crime scene and initiated an investigation. They recovered crucial forensic evidence, including multiple bullet shells and marks on the businessman's vehicle.

Hammam provided a statement to the police, sharing the sequence of events leading to the fatal shooting. As the businessman's untimely death has left his family in shock and disbelief, police said their investigation is ongoing, and the accused will be arrested soon.
