Oklahoma has filed a lawsuit against two natural gas firms located in Texas, claiming that they deliberately decreased the gas supply during the 2021 Winter Storm Uri, sending prices rising and resulting in massive profits.

Legal action has been taken by Oklahoma against gas companies in relation to profits they made during the storm of 2021. The catastrophic storm knocked electricity out to millions of people and caused nationwide temperature drops.
Both Symmetry Energy Solutions of Houston and ET Gathering & Processing of Dallas were included in the lawsuits, according to The Associated Press.
Actual and punitive damages, together with a portion of any gains from the misconduct, are sought in both claims. Gentner Drummond, the Republican attorney general of Oklahoma, has said that his agency would seek further lawsuits against other corporations that may have participated in market manipulation.
In a statement, Drummond expressed his belief that the amount of fraud committed against Oklahomans during Winter Storm Uri is both shocking and morally despicable.
"While many companies conducted themselves above board during that trying time, our analysis indicates that some bad actors reaped billions of dollars in ill-gotten gains," he said, as reported by Oklahoma Voice.
In response, a representative from Symmetry has said that the firm would fight the case "vigorously" and "adamantly" against the baseless claims made in it.
