With just a day left before the deadline to pay his $464 million bond, former President Donald Trump finds himself under pressure.
Despite assertions from his legal team that he's unable to gather the required funds, Donald Trump insists he has nearly $500 million in cash, contradicting his attorneys' statements in a New York court, according to the Independent.
Trump has repeatedly touted his wealth, claiming he is worth several billions of dollars. Much of that value stems from assets tied to the Trump Organization and his real estate holdings.
However, as the deadline looms, he took to his Truth Social platform to assert that he has amassed nearly $500 million through what he described as a combination of "hard work, talent, and luck." He noted that this "substantial amount" was intended for his presidential campaign.
The urgency to meet the bond deadline comes as New York Attorney General Letitia James stands ready to seize Trump's assets if he fails to produce the required sum for his civil fraud judgment.
The legal pressure adds to Donald Trump's financial woes, as he faces mounting challenges in meeting the bond requirement. Trump, who is appealing and requesting a stay on his civil fraud judgment, must post the bond by Monday.
