Tech company CEO Elon Musk clapped back at President Biden's push for a bipartisan Senate resolution to address the record-breaking influx of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border.

On Friday, Jan. 26, US President Joe Biden released a statement informing the public that the legislation being negotiated would give the president a new emergency authority to shut down the border. The statement mentioned that "when it becomes overwhelmed," Biden would use that authority on the day he signed the bill into law.

Musk is known for being a vocal critic of the border crisis. He expressed his thoughts on social media with Biden's statement.

On his social media-owned platform X, he wrote:

"No laws need to be passed," Musk wrote. "All that is needed is an executive order to require proof before granting an asylum hearing. That is how it used to be."

According to Fox News, Musk agreed with Silicon Valley entrepreneur and investor David Sacks' sentiments, who tweeted, "because this administration refuses to enforce the laws we already have." Musk responded by writing, "exactly."

In 2023, the tech billionaire tweeted he supports a border wall through a tweet. He wrote that migrants need to produce a "shred of evidence" before being granted asylum in the United States.

"We actually do need a wall, and we need to require people to have some shred of evidence to claim asylum to enter, as everyone is doing that," Musk said in an X post.
