With all the talk regarding Microsoft's dreadful across the board gadget sales, Microsoft's chief executive officer Steve Ballmer said that the company is moving forward and plans of focusing on other ways to stay afloat.

In a meeting held this week, Ballmer and Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner stated that their next moves include locking photo application Instagram for their Windows Phone brand. They also said that they are looking past the Surface RT US$900 million charge, and is looking to produce a next generation upgrade for the losing tablet.

In an effort to sell the remaining 6 million units of Surface RT tablets, Microsoft decided earlier to reduce the tablets' price by 30% all over the world. The executives said that the cutback was a necessary move to make the Surface RT more attractive to the Apple and Samsung dominated market.

The company said that they will be putting their efforts into marketing their products for the 'back to school' and summer vacation period.
