Magician Jonathan Pendragon's Daughter and Assistant Jacosa Kato, the assistant to famed magician Jonathan Pendragon, has died, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner.

Kato, 34, died on Thursday. The Coroner's office did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for additional information, but an autopsy has been scheduled. Her cause of death has not yet been listed.

Joe Furlow, the general manager of the Magic Castle in Los Angeles - a private club and the home of The Academy of Magical Arts - tells PEOPLE that Kato performed at the venue on Wednesday with Pendragon. After leaving, she was climbing onto the roof of her apartment complex when she slipped and fell to her death.

Furlow said that Pendragon and his wife West McDonough were "very close" to Kato, and considered her like a stepdaughter. He added that Pendragon's shows have been canceled through the weekend.

"We're all kind of reeling, today will be a very strange day for all of us," Furlow said. "We're heartbroken."

A rep for Pendragon added in a statement, "Jonathan and family are obviously extremely upset and distraught at this incredibly sad time as they mourn their Jacosa, who succumbed to a tragic accident. They ask that at this time that everyone respect their privacy."

According to his bio, Pendragon is a University of California at Irvine graduate who has performed in a variety of primetime specials and currently tours with the Masters of Illusion Live!. Pendragon reportedly married McDonough after his divorce from Charlotte Pendragon in 2012, according to TMZ. No family members have yet publicly commented on the death.

Jacosa Nao Kato had just performed at the Magic Castle in Los Angeles when she decided to go stargazing with her boyfriend at a nearby apartment building and fell five stories reports TMZ.

The 34-year-old is the daughter of West McDonough, who is married to magician Jonathan Pendragon.

Her specialty was acrobatics and aerials, and she had been performing with Pendragon on Wednesday just before she slipped and fell to her death.
