Healthcare And Materials Lead Friday Sectors

Among the companies in the Healthcare group that has performed well are Mettler-Toledo International, Inc. (Symbol: MTD) and Mylan NV (Symbol: MYL) as the two large leading stocks with an increase of 6.5% and 4.0%, respectively.

Among healthcare ETFs , one ETF next to the sector is the Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLV), which has recorded an increase of 1.4% on the day, and down 5.91% year-to-date.

On the other hand, Mettler-Toledo International, Inc. is up 25.01% year-to-date, while Mylan NV, is down 34.36% year-to-date. When combined, MTD and MYL would make up to an approximate 1.1% of the basic holdings of XLV.

Following Healthcare as the best performing sectors is the Materials sector which has shown an increase on 1.6%. The companies with the largest Materials stocks are Mohawk Industries, Inc. (Symbol: MHK) and Arconic Inc (Symbol: AA) presenting a gain of 8.8% and 4.7%, respectively.

Another ETF closely following Materials stocks is the Materials Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLB ), that is up by0.8% in midday exchange, and up 8.81% on a year-to-date basis.

Mohawk Industries, Inc., on the other hand, is up 1.63% year-to-date, while Arconic Inc, is down 13.37% year-to-date. Combined, the two make up approximately 0.7% of the principal holdings of XLB.

Conversely, the Technology & Communications sector is the worst performing sector as of midday Friday with a loss of 0.1%.

Included in the sector are Qorvo Inc (Symbol: QRVO) and Symantec Corp. (Symbol: SYMC) which are considered as the day's laggards, with a loss of 11.9% and 8.7%, respectively.

In the technology ETFs , one ETF following the sector is the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLK), showing an increase of 0.3% on the day, and up 9.85% year-to-date. Meanwhile, Qorvo Inc is down 1.75% year-to-date, and Symantec Corp. is up 31.10% year-to-date., QRVO and SYMC make up approximately 0.5% of the underlying holdings of XLK when combined.

Another worst performing sector is the Energy sector which has not shown any signs of gain. In large companies under the Energy sector, Murphy Oil Corp (Symbol: MUR) and Marathon Oil Corp. (Symbol: MRO) are the most distinguished, presenting a loss of 3.8% and 2.7%, respectively.
