World famous rapper Jay Z partnered with smartphone producer Samsung Electronics to launch a one million free download deal to its customers. The partnership cost Samsung over GBP3.2 million or US$4.9 million for the album's rights.

Several negative reactions regarding the deal did not stop the rapper from pushing through with the partnership. He said that the deal should not overshadow the more important thing - his music.

Jay Z's album, entitled Magna Carta Holy Grail, was his eleventh. Released last July 4, the album reached the top of the United Kingdom charts for the first time.

"I'm not really concerned with noise. It's everyone's overreaction to everything," said the rapper.

"If other people are cool with not selling or putting themselves in that light then that's their personal preference. If you want to be second that's cool," said Jay Z regarding his business decisions.

"Shakespeare was a man who wrote poetry," added the rapper. "I'm a man who writes poetry. Why not compare yourself to the best? I'm not here to be second best," he summed.

According to Forbes, Jay Z's has a net worth of almost US$475 million, making him the second wealthiest among all hip-hop artists in the world. The rapper is also an angel investor with placements in different firms in the sports, fashion, and consumer sector.
