Moscow was dubbed as the "most expensive city" in the entire planet. This was according to numerous surveys.

A monthly rental of an unfurnished luxurious two-bedroom apartment in the city would cost US$4,600 per month, on average. This amount was more expensive than apartment rentals in Manhattan. There was also a premium for imported goods and services. On average, one gallon of milk will cost US$7.59. Even a cup of coffee cost more than US$8.

However, residents in the city earning US$800 to US$900 per month, on average, survived just fine. How, you may ask?

First, we have to bear in mind that surveys usually compare the costs of more than 200 items. These items included food, clothing, housing, and household goods as well as entertainment and transport.

Second, most Moscovites do not live in business class hotel rooms or apartments. Most of them even take their meals at home or work. In addition, they buy few items from designer brands like Prada.
