Natural gas firms expand for less costly consumer energy

Although considered as nothing spectacularly damaging, experts are still monitoring the condition of the are affected by the natural gas explosion in the Gulf of Mexico today. Officials in Louisiana stresses that the blowout was nothing that cannot be controlled easily.

No worker was injured during the explosion. According to sources, the workers were on a portable jack up rig, a kind of drilling equipment, which was under the possession of the Hercules Offshore company. The firm is listed as a contractor for the Walter Oil & Gas Company.

Walter Oil & Gas is among the rising number of ventures in the natural gas industry, which analysts expected to thrive in the next decade. Last month, reports said that major players in each state heavily involved in the natural gas industry were set to expand their operations.

In Connecticut, the top three companies Yankee Gas, Southern Connecticut Gas, and Connecticut Natural Gas Company filed expansions to reach a new market comprised of over 280,000 customers within the next 10 years.

According to research, the consumers will benefit from lower costs if the expansions were implemented. Natural gas is currently less pricey than traditional home heating oil.
