PayPal, an online payment broker, disclosed that it mistakenly credited a man with US$92 quadrillion. The 56-year-old Chris Reynolds of Pennsylvania found the quantity when he opened his PayPal account's monthly statement.

The error was immediately recognized by the company and his account returned to zero when he logged in again. The Philadelphia Daily News reported that Reynolds said that finding US$92,233,720,368,547,800 on his account was "quite a big surprise." "At first I thought that I owed quadrillions," he added.

"This was obviously an error and we appreciate that Mr Reynolds understands this was the case," PayPal stated through BBC. The money transfer company that operated online stated that it would make a donation to any charity that Reynolds wanted to help.

For 10 years, Reynolds used the payment service online to buy and sell items on eBay like vintage parts. He said that usually, his transactions in PayPal were not more than US$100 each month.
