According to CNN News, the giant food chain has more than 36,000 locations all over the world, with 3,494 stores by foreign operators. Most of them are from Japan. Despite having plenty of chains worldwide, McDonald's has recently suffered weaker sales due and fewer visitors due to a food-borne illness scandal linked to the restaurant that erupted in China 2014.
