The American League's performance in this year's All-Star game highlighted the winning advantage a bullpen could offer. The All-Star game on Tuesday held at Citi Field became Mariano Rivera's night. Rivera, the ever popular closer, was given a poignant salute in his last Midsummer Classic.

Jim Leyland, the manager of American League, decided to use the 43-year-old pitcher in the eighth inning. Rivera usually played in the ninth inning. However, since his 13th and last All-Star team wanted to secure his spot in the Hall of Famer, the change of plan transpired.

"Let him have the moment," Torii Hunter, the outfielder of Tigers stated. "That's his moment. It's the perfect moment, man. You can't beat it. Awesome."

Rivera saved 638 games by throwing the same thing. His pitches were described to be the best cut fastball. This season, he was able to get 30 saves. Rivera's net worth was US$90 million which he earned by being the right-handed pitcher for the New York Yankees.

The business of baseball flourished due to the cable corporation's desire to provide live programming. In 2011, an average Major League Baseball team's value boosted to 16% to a record of US$605 million. Rivera's team was considered as baseball's most valuable team with a net worth of US$1.85 billion.
