In the past, NASCAR was considered only a 'cult sport', an illegitimate child unworthy of any of any major sponsors and worldwide acclaim. Ten years after its debut, the competition has been racking up millions from bets all over the globe.

The popularity of the race was surprising, mainly because of the nature of its rise. Online gambling fueled the fame of NASCAR. There is an increase in the number of people who make bets and wager during NASCAR events every year. Analysts say that the reason for this upward trend in figures both in the number of bets and the amount of wagers is the simplicity of the process. NASCAR betting is as simple as clicking and watching.

According to a report early this year, in Great Britain alone, a total of GBP2 billion pounds were poured into the gambling industry. Whether it's NASCAR, online poker, the lottery - the easy and simple nature of internet gambling caused an addiction which rippled into a multibillion dollar industry.

According to H2 Gambling Capital, the worldwide revenue of the online gambling industry amounts to a staggering US$21 billion.
