Microsoft is going to introduce latest addition to its midrange phones with a five inch HD display and a low power snapdragon processor, The Lumia 650. The yet to unveil smart phone is reportedly going to be the last in Lumia lineup.

The possibly last Lumia is going to be introduced either on February 1 or in the Barcelona based large smart phone event, the Mobile World Congress to be held during late February. After the launch of Lumia 650, the Redmond giant, Microsoft will concentrate on its Windows 10 based surface phone range. No more smart phone will be launched under Lumia moniker, reports Gadgets 360⁰ quoting Windows Central.

However, Lumia 750 and 850 are still in the works. But the tech giant has finally decided to abandon these smart phone projects and started focusing on surface phone. Although nothing is certain, ditching the "Lumia" name most likely means that Microsoft have something else in mind, reports GIZMODO.

Rumors on Microsoft's surface phone are buzzing around since long. The Windows operating software maker may introduce the surface branded smart phones during the second half of 2016. The new phone range is said to be powered by Intel processors instead of the Qualcomm chipsets.

The Lumia 650 probable features are- a 5-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 210 or 212 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Micro SD card slot, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, all is going to be added, reports BGR.

The new Lumia will be available with two color options - Matte White or Matte Black. The phone is expected to run with Windows 10. Unlike Lumia 550, it will be priced as a budget device.

The latest Lumia flagship devices, the 950 and 950 XL, have failed to make a splash when the brand needed it most. It will be interesting to watch Microsoft picking up the pieces and salvage of its first-party phone business later this year.

Recently, Lumia 650 has been leaked via a listed distributor of smart phones in the Czech Republic. According to the distributor, Lumia 650 will be priced at CZK 5491 (approximately $600) in the Czech Republic.

Lumia 650 is possibly going to be the last smart phone with the name of Lumia. Microsoft's earlier two mid range smart phone products Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, apparently have failed to attract consumers. With two other projects for 750 and 850 are still in hand, Microsoft is probably abandoning the whole program in a bid to focus more on its surface phones.
