Gowalla's co-founder Josh Williams announced that he will exit Facebook, alongside Instagram's Tin Van Damme. According to Van Damme, his exit is unrelated to William's move.

Van Damme was a previous employee of Gowalla before the small startup was acquired by the social media titan in December 2011. Williams worked for Facebook's Pages, Locations, and Events division. The Gowalla chief executive officer said that he is leaving Facebook to "work on something new." He spent 18 months on the social giant.

Williams worked on Facebook Nearby, a feature of the website which online publisher TechCrunch noticed never got "much love since it launched in December 2012."

Facebook said that Williams was "a valuable member" of the company, wishing him luck on his future endeavors. He said that he did not have anything against the company.

These employee exits came after several top executives of the company sold their shares on Facebook.
