AMR Corp's American Airlines and US Airways Group have presented concessions to European Union antitrust regulators to secure their authorization for a planned merger. The said deal, which is valued at US $11 billion, seeks to establish the world's largest airline.

On Wednesday, the European Commission stated that they will decide whether or not to clear the transaction by August 6. However, the particulars of the proposed merger were not provided in compliance with its usual policy.

It is typical for airlines to open up frequent-flyer programs or give up airport slots to competitors to lessen regulatory apprehensions that mergers could damage rivalry.

Reuters reported that U.S. regulators are looking into the planned transaction. Last week, shareholders of US Airways have already given their approval to go ahead with the deal. This move marks the fourth major tie-up within the last five years in the US airline industry.
