LG G4 Under Sprint Now Receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update

It was in mid-October when LG Electronics started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to LG G4 handsets in Poland as a trial. Now, the South Korean tech company together with the carrier Sprint is officially releasing the upgrade to G4 subscribers.

According to Android Police, the update is ready for the US and Sprint is the first carrier to deliver it to its subscribers. On its support page for the device, Sprint stated the update has been made available last Thursday, December 17th. The company is rolling out the software version LS991ZV9 with Marshmallow and Sprint Global Roaming.

iDigitalTimes added that the update will be sent over the air, meaning it would hit the Sprint LG G4 handset wirelessly. Owners of the device should be notified to update their devices automatically once the software hits, but they can also check manually by going to Settings > About phone > Software update to see whether it is available.

Upon upgrading, LG G4 will get a new features like Now on Tap which provides contextual details to what they are accessing on their device. Another is Doze mode, which will allow the handsets to go into a deep sleep mode when not used to further extend battery life. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow also brings Android Pay system. Users of G4 can also observe the Direct Share which will allow them to easily share media with their favorite contacts. Lastly, the Flex Storage, which encrypts applications and data, making them apart of the device rather than a micro SD card. Sprint has also added is global roaming feature to the update.

Apart from these details, the features of the LG G4 are also worth noting. Tech Radar reported that the device sports a 5.5-inch screen with a 1,440 x 2,560 resolution at 538 ppi that's protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is engineered with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz and another two Cortex-A57 cores at 1.82 GHz.

When it comes to memory, G4 is armed with a 32 GB internal storage that's expandable via microSD, supporting up to 128 GB additional capacity. Under its chassis, it is also armored with an Adreno 418 GPU and 3 GB worth of RAM. This smartphone is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery pack and as for the cameras; it's fitted with a 16-megapixel shooter in the rear and an 8-megapixel one in the front.

With the Android 6.0 Marshmallow now rolling out on LG G4 handsets under Sprint, users of the device can finally experience the new features that the upgrade brings. Moreover, G4 handsets under other major carriers will just have to keep an eye for further announcements regarding its release.
