Rumors are running down the vine as to when God of War 4 will be released and who will be the feature main character.

While there is no official debut date yet for God of War 4, series writer Cory Borlog hinted that game may be available next year or by 2017, Franchise Herald wrote. The achievement of remastered God of War has apparently give way to the possibility of the release date of God of War 4.

The site added that aside from the probability of releasing the fourth series of the God of War franchise, game developer mentioned Kratos as part of the heroes of the Greek-mythology inspired game.

The speculation about Kratos was fueled by the ending of God of War 3, Christian Today reported. Kratos is believed to be the main hero of the next entry into the franchise. Fans are expecting that the storyline of God of War 4 will follow the battle of Kratos and Athena that will be fierce and brutal.

The site added that God of War 4 will have a new story with Kratos seizing the Norse gods in its place. But the nagging query is whether Santa Monica Studio will be releasing God of War 4.

Crossmap suggested game developer released a trailer teasing the prospect of God of War 4.  Before the end of the movie clip, God of War logo appearing four times as it about to end. Fans believed that it is not an accident but rather Sony Santa Monica is hinting of a God of War 4.

Barlog was quoted by the site saying "Imagine a game like that [God of War 3] came out on PS4, right. Well, thanks to the fine folks at Santa Monica Studio, we do not have to imagine anymore because God of War III Remastered is here!"

Although, no confirmation yet, God of War 4 is in the works as reports of Kratos returning to the game. Speculations also pointed out that Kratos will be clashing with the Norse gods.

Fans will have to wait for Santa Monica Studio as they release information about God of War 4
