Simon Lowth will be the new Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director of BG Group PLC., U.K.'s third largest natural gas producer. The effective date of Lowth's appointment is yet to be announced according to BG Group. He will take the place of Den Jones, BG Group's interim CFO since February.

Lowth is currently the CFO of AstraZeneca Plc., U.K's biggest drugmaker. He joined the company in 2007 and served as the interim CEO in 2012. Pascal Soriot, an executive of Roche Holding AG, officially replaced Lowth in August 2012 and he assumed his role as the company's CFO.

"Simon has made a significant and lasting contribution to AstraZeneca's success, helping put the company on a stronger footing for the future. I will miss our interactions and I would like to thank him for all his support over the last few months," said Soriot in the company's statement.

He is set to leave AstraZeneca this October.
