'Jurassic World 2' is an upcoming adventure film that will follow the events of its predecessor 'Jurassic World'. Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt are set to return as Claire Dearing and Owen Grady, respectively. Claire will reportedly replace Owen as the new lead protagonist sans running in heels.

According to Moviepilot, Bryce Dallas Howard may replace Chris Pratt as the sequel's newest lead protagonist. Previous reports stated that big changes may take place in the follow-up and this may be one of them. The preceding film was surrounded by controversy with regards to gender dynamics and the "demonization" of women with careers but was received positively regardless of all that.

Director Colin Trevorrow hinted that Howard's Claire Dearing may take the lead as the series of reboots progresses. He said, "Claire is the one who evolves the most over the trilogy, it's her story that mirrors this changing world. Owen has sh*t to deal with. The two of them opened Pandora's Box in Jurassic World and each of them are responsible for different elements of it in different ways, and I think the way that these characters are connected to the circumstances of what's happening it's different than the previous films."

Claire was introduced in the 2015 film as a career-oriented female character, a Jurassic World operations manager, who eventually becomes a nurturing aunt to her nephews Zach and Gray. She is also known to wear high heels every time. One of the most unrealistic moments in the past film was Claire running on heels trying to evade dinosaurs.

It seemed that the preceding film's director, Colin Trevorrow, finally addressed the "running in heels" controversy. According to Cinema Blend, Howard revealed that she was relieved to be off the heels for 'Jurassic World 2' saying, "The way that Colin [Trevorrow] told me that the sequel was happening, when it got greenlit, and that I was going to be in it, he texted me #NoHeels2018. And I was like, 'Yeah, boy!'" One of the most unrealistic moments in the past film was Claire running from dinosaurs in heels around the island.

The 34-year old Hollywood beauty also revealed that filming will begin in 2017 in time for the scheduled cinematic release on 2018. According to Screen Crush, Trevorrow will not be returning to direct for a second time but will still be attached to the project as screenwriter alongside Derek Connolly. The 39-year old filmmaker will be helming the upcoming 'Star Wars: Episode IX' slated to be released in 2019.

'Jurassic World 2' is an upcoming science-fiction adventure film scheduled to be released on June 22, 2018. It is intended as the fifth installment in the Jurassic Park series and is the second film in the Jurassic World trilogy. Its predecessor starred Howard, Chris Pratt, Ty Simpkins, Vincent D'Onofrio and Nick Robinson.
