James Cameron is set to open the doors to Pandora once again in Avatar 2. The relations between humans and Na'vi are set to get ugly in the upcoming war while new plot speculations suggest that Neytiri and Jake might struggle to stay together.

A war is set to start between the humans and the Na'vi, and although Jake and Neytiri will fight to defend their tribe, they will struggle to keep their relationship going. According to Realty Today, plot speculations are rife that Jake and Neytiri will eventually have to separate in the sequel in order to make themselves stronger individually.

Moreover, the film will also feature the return of Stephen Lang's Col. Miles Quaritch. According to Yibada, Col. Quatrich will make things more difficult for Neytiri and Jake. Cameron confirmed Col. Quatrich's return as saying that he reminds him of Star Wars' Darth Vader.

Cameron also further revealed that Col. Quatrich's character will undergo changes in the upcoming installments of the franchise. "His character will evolve into really unexpected places across the arc of our new three-film saga", he said.

Cameron previously revealed that developing the right technology for Avatar 2 was part of the reasons for its delay. He also added that the new technology will be used in filming Pandora's water ecosystem, but also noted that the film will not be filmed entirely underwater.

"WETA is working out underwater performance capture for underwater scenes. It's going to be like the Floating Mountains in the first movie. It's not going to be all underwater; it's going to be a place we go to, leave and come back to.", Cameron said. According to Movie Pilot he also revealed that the subsequent Avatar 3 and 4 will be set in Pandora's neighboring moons.

Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington are expected to reprise their roles as Neytiri and Jake Sully, respectively, for Avatar 2. Cameron is set to direct the project from screenplay he wrote with Josh Friedman. The film is currently slated to hit theaters in December 2017.
