In a Bitcoin London conference, an invite-only event, venture capitalists showed interest in the new digital currency. However, despite the enthusiasm for Bitcoin, venture capitalists at the conference admitted that the topic was still confusing and uncertain.

Stefan Glaenzer of Passion Capitalist was "totally clueless" and joined the conference to learn more about Bitcoin. A speaker at the event likened referred to Bitcoin as new technologies' quantum physics, no one really understood it.

A few of the areas that need discussion included its origins, its future role, its regulation, and reactions of banks and governments. It was clear that venture capitalists saw Bitcoin's potential and thought about investing in Bitcoin startups but were still on a learning phase.

"We see the financial services area as something which has a lot of the same trends as we saw in the telecoms area and therefore I'm convinced there are opportunities there," says Michael Jackson of Mangrove Capital, a company that invested early in Skype.
