There will be a double episode extravaganza of "Chicago PD"  Season 3 this week. It is still unknown wether the two episodes are linked although it is possible that there will be two parallel cases with a lot of personal drama of the series regulars thrown in. Fans are especially looking forward to the Lindsay and Halstead storyline.

The reason for the double episodes is to let the show catch up with "Law & Order:SUV" reveals Christian Post. Both shows need to be in sync in terms of story and episode count for the planned crossover episode coming next year. NBC will be giving the other show a break for the same purpose.

The official synopsis as reported by Cartermatt for the Episode 5 & 6 combo of "Chicago PD" Season 3 relates that Ruzek's future with the unit hangs in the hands of new Street Deputy Cowley after a botched undercover job happened in his watch. A suspicious call led to a murder investigation when Burgess and her temporary partner Price discover a dead body inside an SUV. The unit realizes there might be more to the story of the dead man after Mouse identifies the victim as the owner of a security company. On a more personal note, Halstead and Lindsay take their relationship a step forward.

The last hour will lead the team to the murder investigation of an 8 year old boy who was reported missing. The episode will turn emotional when the boy's younger sister pleads with Voight to find the person who killed her brother in such a horrific manner. Although Voight promised the girl that they would, the investigation proves to be difficult for the team. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Voight and his team will be taken aback by $1 Million cash lying around the secret lair of someone with international connections during the murder investigation.

In the last episode of "Chicago PD" Season 3, Hank Voight and his family survived a car bomb with the help of Olinsky. Meanwhile, Burgess got disappointed when Ruzek was okay with having their wedding postponed which also made people wonder if he really wants to get married in the first place. This week, he will have to deal with the consequences of his undercover mission going bust.

Are you looking forward to the double episodes of "Chicago PD" Season 3 and the promise of Lindsay and Halstead's relationship moving forward this week? Better tune in from 9 to 11pm on October 28 on NBC.
