Leaks about Microsoft's Lumia 940 and 940 XL have surfaced under the codenames Lumia Talkman and Lumia Cityman, with the new specs and concept photos revealing what followers can expect when the new flagship smart phones are finally released in the second half of the year.

Unleash The Phones (UTP) has confirmed with its source earlier speculations that the more premium Lumia Cityman otherwise known as Lumia 940 XL will sport a 5.7 inch QHD display.

Nokia Power User (NPU) earlier revealed the same information on the phablet-sized premium phone. The NPU likewise predicted the same for the 5 megapixel front-facing selfie camera but its forecast for a bumped-up 24-25 megapixel rear-end camera was contradicted in the latest report with the Cityman only carrying a 20 megapixel rear camera.

UTP also revealed the Lumia 940 XL Cityman will be using the Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core processor on a 3GB RAM, a 32GB internal memory with microSD card support for extended memory, and a 3,300Ah battery.

The Lumia 940 Talkman will reportedly bear the same Cityman features such as the rear and front-facing cameras, RAM capacity, and storage.

The Talkman will differ from the Cityman in terms of display, with the lesser premium phone bearing a smaller 5.2 inch display on the same QHD resolution. The Talkman also uses a hexa-core instead of an octa-core Snapdragon processor. The 940 also has less power with a 3,000Ah battery and will be slightly slimmer than last year's Lumia 930.

The similarities between the Lumia 940 Talkman and Lumia 940 XL Cityman extend to their processors supporting 64-bit computing. Both upcoming Microsoft flagship smart phones will have the triple-LED flash with each having a different shade, enabling the user to take pictures displaying natural colors.

Phones Review UK meanwhile released photos of a concept design for the Lumia flagship phones bearing starkly different specifications than the UTP and NPU leaks. Architect Ashraf Amer designed a 5.4 inch display and 24.2 megapixel rear camera.

The Microsoft Lumia 940 and 940 XL smart phones are expected to carry the soon-to-be-released Microsoft Windows 10 software for phones which features PC-to-phone capability, allowing the user to reply to calls and send SMS directly from the PC.
