Ambition wants to help motivate sales teams through a product that uses an approach similar to fantasy football. The startup, which is currently in a Y Combinator class, released their product in August last year, according to TechCrunch.
In a fantasy football game, professional players compete against each other in imaginary games. Ambition, however, monitors the performance of different sales teams that belong to the same company. These teams then compete for a specified amount of time and winners are given certain rewards. Every team member sets an "ambition" score, which is calculated and compared with other members, the report explained.
According to co-founder Travis Truett, having a team-focused system could also be a significant motivating factor. He explained that when members feel that they are part of a group's success even if they are not leaders, the whole process becomes "peer motivated, not manager motivated." Truett also said managers can use the tool to focus on individual and team data and measure the performance of any employee, the report detailed.
Established in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Ambition has closed its seed round from Y Combinator, YC VC, and The Lamp Post Group, TechCrunch reported.
