A waterfall have always been one of earth's most amazing wonders. In any part of the world you go, one cannot help but be awed by the spectacular sight and sound provided by this body of water. These bodies of water are so amazing that you can hear the sound of a waterfall from miles away.

Each country boasts of having its own waterfall. Some of these wonders have been opened to the public and have become major attractions. Others have been preserved and well-maintained by their respective local governments. In this article, we will take a look at 5 of the tallest waterfalls in the world that has made it this Info Barrel's list:

5. Yumbilla Falls


Located in the Amazonas Region of Peru, Yumbilla Falls stands at a staggering 895.5 meters. It is tiered into four distinct drops, with the height spread between these tiers. Within the same valley are similar falls as well as a wide array of orchids and rare species of Andean birds like parrots and hummingbirds.

4. Olo'upena Falls

With an amazing drop of 900 meters into the Pacific Ocean, the only problem with this waterfall is that it is inaccessible. Located in the island of Molokai, Hawaii, Olo'upena Falls is also surrounded by incredibly high cliffs. The only way to view this waterfall is from an ocean or by aerial view or during the wet season when there is a full flowing stream visible to the naked eye.

3. Three Sisters Falls


The second of Peru's waterfalls in this list, the Three Sisters Falls measures 914 meters. Located in Peru's Ayacucho Region, Three Sisters Falls is called as such because the waterfalls is divided into three tiers. Located in the same area where the waterfalls is located is the Pavirontsi Bridge, the largest natural bridge in the world.

2. Tugela Falls

With a height measuring 948 meters, Tugela Falls in South Africa is divided into 5-tiers with the biggest tier dropping at 411 meters. Extremely popular as a tourist attraction in the KwaZulu-Natal Province, there are two main trails that lead to the waterfalls: one at the top and another at the bottom. According to experts, Tugela Falls may actually be higher than the current front runner, which is the Angel Falls in Venezuela.

1. Angel Falls

Falling to a height of 979 meters, Angel Falls in Venezuela has been ranked in every other waterfalls list. Its waters plunge over the edge of the Auyantepui Mountains and drops for approximately one kilometer. It also holds the record for the highest uninterrupted waterfall with a drop of 807 meters. In order to view Angel Falls, tourists have to fly to the beginning of the river trips at Canaima Camp.
