Israeli technology company Kaiima Bio-Agritech Ltd is focused on seed and breeding technology. It had announced the receipt of USD65 million in equity coming from three investors together with previous ones.

The three new investors are namely Horizons Ventures, the International Financial Corporation and the Infinity Group. The other existing investors include DFK, Mitsui, KPCB, Musea Ventures and Oberlee.

The central object of the investment is the proprietary Enhanced Ploidy Technology created by Kaiima. The technology multiplies the genome of the plant without compromising its structural and molecular integrity. This non-GMO technology is in use within the crops genome that has become important to global food security with specific energy crops. The technology also boosts overall productivity as well as increase efficient usage of land and water resources for farming and planting.

According Kaiima Chairman Jeffrey Beard, "We are pleased that Horizons, the IFC and the Infinity Group have chosen to join our investor family as they recognize the value that Kaiima's technology can bring to the world. Rather than protect against yield loss, as many GM technologies are designed to do, Kaiima's non-GMO technology is the first since hybridizaton that actually boosts yield."
