Boeing 737 airplane carrying 85 passengers skidded off a runway at the Senegal Airport in Dakar. An airline safety organization said the aircraft also caught fire, as shown in footage shared on social media.

The transport minister announced that 10 passengers were injured in the incident. Cheick Siriman Sissoko, a Malian musician, was on the Boeing 737 flight when the accident happened.

"Our plane just caught fire," he said on his Facebook post, as reported by Time Magazine.

In Sissoko's post, passengers were seen jumping down the emergency slides while the airplane was burning on one side. This latest incident is bad news for the aircraft manufacturer, especially since a new FAA probe was opened.

FAA Opens New Investigation Against Boeing

According to a recent report by The Associated Press, the Federal Aviation Administration opened an investigation on May 6. The probe was triggered after Boeing admitted that some of its South Carolina plant workers falsified inspection records on some 787 airplanes.

Boeing 787 program head Scott Stocker said in an email that an employee observed an irregularity in a required test of the Boeing wing-to-body joint. The worker reported the issue to Stocker.

Scott said they immediately reviewed the matter after receiving the report and learned numerous workers had violated the company's policies.

The official added that these employees did not perform specific required tests but still recorded their work as completed. However, Boeing clarified that the issue did not create an immediate safety of flight issue.
