'Suicide Squad' actor Will Smith revealed co-star Jared Leto's dedication and extremist method acting for his new character Joker. It was also speculated that Cara Delevingne's Enchantress may be the film's real main antagonist.

According to Vanity Fair, Smith described what seemed to be Leto's technique of "method acting" during a recent interview with Beats 1. He admitted, "[Suicide Squad] is insane... I've never actually met Jared Leto. We worked together for six months and we've never exchanged a word outside of 'Action!' and 'Cut!' I literally have not met him yet. So, the first time I see him will be 'Hey, Jared. What's up?' He was all in on the Joker."

He revealed that Leto took his iconic supervillain role very seriously to the point of disappearing into the character even if cameras weren't rolling.

Jai Courtney, who plays Captain Boomerang, echoed Smith's observations on Leto's dramatic transformation and acting process as well. Courtney said that he and other members of the cast understand full well that there is pressure on Leto to do Joker right, according to Cinema Blend. He said, "I don't know how you measure that these days. I haven't seen him, since we started working, out-of-character, let's put it that way."

Leto's technique is reminiscent to that of Heath Ledger, the late Oscar-winner who portrayed Joker in 2008's 'The Dark Knight'. It was reported that most fans of Ledger's performance were shocked at Leto's casting and were skeptical of the actor's own take of the 'Batman' supervillain. The 43-year old actor and singer-songwriter seemed to take measures to extremes by immersing himself in his character during filming.

Previous reports stated that Leto sent his co-stars various gifts as part of his method acting technique to incorporate Joker into his psyche. For one, he sent cast mate Margot Robbie - who plays on-screen love interest Harley Quinn - a letter with a live rat included.

Although Leto may be considered the worst of the villains in 'Suicide Squad', new reports have emerged of a twist in the main antagonist arena. According to the Independent, supermodel-turned-actress Cara Delevingne may have been thrown in the mix to portray the real villain in the upcoming film.

It was theorized that her character Enchantress, also known as June Moone, is seeking to wreak mayhem and destruction by resurrecting her deceased brother. The Suicide Squad was then employed to go after her and stop her for good.

Some of the speculations also emerged upon closer inspection of the alleged hidden messages in the Comic Con trailer that showed Enchantress separated from the rest of the anti-hero team.

'Suicide Squad' is an action-adventure film based on the DC comic books featuring the series' villains-turned-heroes. It is scheduled to be released on August 5, 2016 under the direction of David Ayer.
