After it was confirmed that Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be receiving the Marshmallow software, the device on AT&T has begun receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update through official over-the-air (OTA) release of the carrier in collaboration with the manufacturer. Before hitting the Android 6.0, Galaxy Note 4 will get new features and improvements.
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is officially rolling out to Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on AT&T with build number N910A. AT&T's version is second to Sprint's for the final Lollipop update. Other major mobile carriers like T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon Wireless have neither released the same update nor hinted when it should come to their versions of Galaxy Note 4.
Galaxy Note 4 on AT&T made a jump from Android 5.0.1 to 5.1.1, skipping Lollipop's first maintenance release 5.1. Alongside new features and improvements, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will bring device security enhancements as well.
If prompted that the update is already available, make sure to back up media files via an SD card, PC or any backup app to prevent losing files although the update will not wipe out data. Device shall be notified when connected to a Wi-Fi. Before proceeding with the installation, make sure the battery is charged up to at least 50% while storage has enough memory space.
To manually check for the update, go to Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for updates. Then follow onscreen instructions. The update is also downloadable via Samsung Kies.
