"Pacific Rim 2" Update: Guillermo Del Toro Wants To Give A Jaeger To "Game Of Thrones" Star Maisie Williams

"Game Of Thrones" star Maisie Williams might get rid of Needle and her Arya Stark character for a while and instead pilot a Jaeger soon enough. The British actress was specifically chosen by Guillermo Del Torro to cast in the sequel to 2013 "Pacific Rim."

Although the development of "Pacific Rim 2" has been frozen as of the moment and no one really knows about its status, the talk about a forthcoming "Pacific Rim" sequel is still on the process with Del Torro dropping hints of some dream casts.

Williams and Del Torro according to the grapevine had a meeting and the director consequently was greatly impressed by the 18 year old actress.

In a Tweet, "Crimson Peak" director announced that he had lunch with a "remarkable" girl and if and when "Pacific Rim 2" happens, she is definitely getting a Jaeger. In "Pacific Rim," Jaegers are giant robots created by human to defend mankind from monstrous creatures called Kaiju which rose from the sea.

After Williams landed the role of Arya Stark to HBO's "Game Of Thrones" in 2011, the young actress has been receiving projects from left to right. Her previous projects include "Cyberbully" and "The Falling." She is reportedly scheduled to be featured in the sci-fi series "Doctor Who" and is currently attached as a candidate to star in "The Last of Us," the film adaptation of the popular video game of the same name. The Portal Award winner is also in talks to play the lead role in another film adaptation from Carrie Ryan's book "The Forest of Hands and Teeth."

 "Pacific Rim 2" is currently in pre-production. It had an original release date of April 2017, but has been pushed back twice reportedly because of financing problems. In a statement released by Universal Pictures recently, it says that a sequel is still in the works, but is halted to give way to an auxiliary development of the "interactive" elements of the franchise.

"Pacific Rim" premiered in 2013 and earned more than $400 million worldwide. Del Torro has co-written and the film which starred Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky and Ron Perlman.
