138 Million Euro Loan for Ukrainian Wind Farm

A unit of DTEK Holdings BV was able to get a Eur 138 million loan from Landesbank Berlin AG for developing a wind farm in the southern part of Ukraine. Wind Power LLC won the loan which is set for ten years and is supposed to fund the second phase of a wind farm with a capacity of 105 megawatts. The farm is located in Zaporizhia.

Construction at the site is scheduled to be finished by 2014 and the site is expected to provide power in the area. The turbines to be used on the wind farm is supplied by the Danish company, Vestas Wind Systems. The loan is backed by the credit agency of Ukraine, Eksport Kredit Fonden.

The farm is set to provide for the increasing energy need of the country and the global demand for renewable energy sources. Countries are now turning to various renewable sources to meet the ever increasing demand for energy.
