Platina Partners Sells Off Last of Wind Energy Fund

Platina Partners, the investment firm based out of London, had said it had sold off all of the assets related to the 2005 wind energy fund. After securing an internal rate of return of 40%, the firm had closed the same fund.

Platina currently has Eur500 million or US$670 million of equity under its management and is now focusing on investments in renewable energy resource projects.

The fund is named Mistral Windfarm 1 owns a total of 105 megawatts of wind sites operating in Britain and France under its portfolio. In 2008, Platina had sold off 36 megawatts of French assets and this last sale would be selling off the last five British wind sites that has a total capacity of 69 megawatts to an unnamed purchaser.

According to Thomas Rottner, Platina's managing partner, said through a statement, "We believe this is the first time that any European GP (general partner) has successfully completed a full cycle of a renewable energy fund, having delivered an outstanding return to our investors."

Despite the fund closure, the firm will continue to acquire assets in the wind and solar sector.
