Augment Ventures invests for the third time in two years

Venture capital firm Augment Ventures made another investment in Mercatus, its third one after the company's launch almost two years ago. The said Series A investment reportedly cost $2 million.

Mercatus is a start-up company that deals with syndication technology, and origination which aids energy project finance investors in making strategies about expanding their portfolios. The said start-up has assessed solar projects amounting to over 3.2 GW. Formerly SCS Renewables, Mercatus enabled investments and transactions worth $250 million, presently involved in more than 40 percent of the commercial market in the United States.

Augment Ventures founder and managing director Sonali Vijayavargiya said that the company is "solving a pain point in energy generation solutions across the board."

The venture company is focusing on creating investments in start-up companies such as Mercatus. They specialize in sustainable energy or clean-tech markets. Augment Ventures portfolio include a supply chain solutions and technology company called LLamasoft, based in Ann Arbor.
