'Mallrats 2' finally has a location, as confirmed by returning director Kevin Smith. He took to social media to announce that its cast and crew will begin production in January next year. He also revealed that Exton Square Mall in Pennsylvania will serve as one of their shooting locations.

According to Coming Soon, Smith offered the most recent sneak peek for his upcoming movie through an announcement on his official Facebook Page. He posted a photograph of himself in one of the chosen shooting locations captioned, "We found our MALL, y'all! This January, the @extonsquaremall in Exton, PA will star in ‪#‎Mallrats 2! @jayandsilentbob are coming to Chester County! Big thanks to financiers StarStream, who found the mall & the money! They're making this ‪#‎MR2 dream come true!"

In another article by Philly.com, a representative from PRIET, owner of the Exton Square Mall property, expressed their excitement over their involvement in the new project. The statement revealed that the opportunity to host a locale for 'Mallrats 2' and the publicity this will bring in would help create jobs for local residents.

The second installment in his romantic comedy was speculated to feature the return of original cast members Jason Lee, Jeremy London, Ethan Suplee, Shannen Doherty, Michael Rooker, Renee Humphrey, and Joey Lauren Adams among others. According to Screen Rant, it was previously rumored that the running title for the upcoming film will be 'MallBrats' but this seems to remain unconfirmed.  The return of Smith and his real-life friend Jason Mewes as Silent Bob and Jay respectively is also widely anticipated.

'Mallrats 2' is the follow-up to the popular '90s film from the 'View Askewniverse' shared cinematic series by Kevin Smith. Despite the first film's massive failure in the box office as well as its generally negative reviews, it immediately gained a small yet tight following of pop culture enthusiasts. It earned only $2.1 million against a $6.1 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.
