Southeastern Asset Management along with Carl Icahn is short listing possible candidates to become the nest CEO for Dell Inc. This will take place once they succeed in a proxy battle against Silver Lake Partners and Michael Dell, sources close to the matter told Reuters.

Several candidates were already approached by Icahn and Southeastern Asset Management. Among these were Michael Capellas, director of Cisco Systems Inc. and Mark Hurd, Oracle Corp.'s president. Former IBM services head Michael Daniels and Hewlett-Packard Co PC boss Todd Bradley were also potential candidates for said position according to same sources.

Capellas, Hurd and Daniels were not available to comment on said report. Bradley sent an email saying that he has not been contacted by either Icahn or Southeastern with regards the selection offer.

Representative for Southeastern declined to give statements while Icahn did not return call to comment.

Company founder Michael Dell, Carl Icahn and Southeastern Asset Management are in a battle over the future of Dell Inc., the world's number three PC maker. This transaction is ongoing despite the swift decline of the computer industry globally.
