Tanzania is currently in discussion with companies from China, India and Israel. This is to pursue a partnership deal with the chosen firm and the government to provide water services to the country. This was after failed attempt for privatization occurred as stated by the Water Ministry of Tanzania.

The state-owned contractor, China Machinery Engineering Corp. signed a mutual understanding agreement with Tanzania for its water supply and sewage projects. The said deal was worth roughly US$500 million in commercial capital. This was according to Yohana Monjesa the director of urban water supply. He further added that discussions for a deal were also held with Wapcos Ltd. and Overseas Infrastructure Alliance Ltd. from India along with other companies.

Currently, the Ministry of Water in Tanzania does not work with any private sector with water-supply. However, such projects can bring a change as the government is trying to promote public-private partnerships said Monjesa.
