Goldman Sachs Invest US$135 Million to ReNew Power Pvt. Ltd.

Goldman Sachs has invested a private equity fund amounting US$135 million to ReNew Power Pvt. Ltd.,an unlisted Indian wind energy company. This made Goldman Sachs one of the largest energy investors in India.

Two years ago, Wall Street bank's private equity arm invested US$200 million with the same Indian based company.

Since 2006, Goldman Sach's have invested capital that is more than US$2 billion. This was according to, Ankur Sahu, the co-head of the Goldman Sach's private equity business in the Asian region.

ReNew Power was founded by Sumant Sinha with the goal to be the biggest energy provider in India. As of April 30, the company has installed a capacity of 200 MW according to their website. The company also announced the investment of Goldman Sachs in a statement found in their official site as well. By 2015, ReNew Power aims to generate a total of 1,000 MW capacity for India.
