While Sony Xperia M5 and M5 Dual are already expected to come out in stores next week with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware out of the box, Xperia M4, M2 and their variants are reported to receive the final version of Lollipop. The 5.1.1 Lollipop comes as an official over-the-air update very soon, most probably before the month ends.

As seen running on Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact handsets, the 5.1.1 software version of Android Lollipop will offer Xperia smartphones and tablets useful features and a few improvements to the user interface, customization, volume controls, and security patches. Although the Japanese tech giant has not issued a statement regarding the exact release date of the update, analysts are firm that it might come out as the Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes out too in late September.

This report has been made stronger through a certification the Android operating system has acquired from the PTCRB shown in a Youtube video. The clip shows the Sony-made features and changes that go along with the update.
