Sony is officially rolling out the 5.1.1 version of Android Lollipop to Xperia Z4 variants as soon as the Android 6.0 Marshmallow debuts later this month, reports tell. Although Sony has already confirmed that rollout, the tech firm remains silent when to let out the much-awaited update.

Sony is not passing up the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, unlike LG, as it is currently announcing series of rollouts to its devices with 5.1.1 software version of Lollipop. Xperia Z4, Xperia Z4v, & Z4 Tablet are among the devcies Sony has already confirmed to get the update.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is reportedly to these device in a matter of two weeks. Last July, it was already rumored to update these devices but the news was not true after all. This time, the news came straight from Sony Japan.

Sony was trying to release updates now in the Japanese territories as it has been known to be behind Android rollouts. The latest and final Lollipop version is expected to bring a security patch for the infamous Stagefright threat, plus a few minor tweaks and improvements in battery and overall performance.

Currently, Sony has let out a changelog of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop from Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Changes include additional options for Wi-Fi connection and Bluetooth in the notification menu and new icons being used in the settings menu. Lollipop is also expected to bring changes in animations and a lot more.

Here's a quick run-through of features and changes Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will bring:

• Material Design. Android's latest user interface is made even sleeker by using smoother shadows, livelier animation, fresh font style and vibrant colors. Material Design gives Lollipop cleaner minimalist design.
• Device Switch. Lollipop now has a more convenient way to switch once device software using the near-field communication (NFC) which will set up the same format for apps, wallpaper and screen layout when transitioned. This also takes note of preferences such as Wi-Fi connection settings or location choices. Even without the NFC capacity, device can manually restore settings froma previous device using a Google account.
• Sync with Other Device. Syncing TV, watches, cars, smartphones, and tablets to a device is made possible plus perks and privileges of allowing users to browse, listen and watch on one device and continue where one left off on another. This operates using a Google account as key which also provides good access to apps, photos, docs and music.
• Advanced Security. Following security threats, increased protection will guarantee stricter privacy of sensitive data especially when device is lost or stolen. Protection against malware and a better Smart Lock also takes tight grip of information to trusted devices.

 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is also rolling out to Xperia Z3, Z2, Z1, and Z series, M4 Aqua, M2, M2 Aqua, C3, C2, T2, and more.
