Samsung Galaxy S5 is stricken with bugs and errors leading to excessive battery drain and crashes when its first Lollipop rollout in January began. Now that it is coming to the ultimate Lollipop update, Android is making up giving the device a solution to Stagefright attack and other bugs through 5.1.1 upgrade.

Galaxy S5 is one of the lucky recipients for Samsung's promised monthly security checkup for its roster of devices. While running with Android 5.1 Lollipop, Samsung is reported to release the next Lollipop before the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come out in late September.

Major mobile carriers in the U.S. have already expressed their excitement to roll out to Samsung Galaxy S5 users the update and experience minor tweaks and enhancements.

T-Mobile is the first carrier to release an official over-the-air update of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone. The update comes with a software version G900TUVU1FOF6. Aside from the Stagefright fix, the firmware brings performance stability enhancements, support for RAW and lower ISO values for a third-party camera app that is using to Android's API.

Sprint just updated their version to Android 5.1 last July so 5.1.1 is not far from then. The software patch updated the Galaxy S5's reactivation lock, an anti-theft feature using a Samsung account.

Verizon Wireless is still hoping for 5.1.1 though as it was just updated also in July with 5.1. If your Verizon version of Galaxy S5 has not been updated to 5.1 yet, go to Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for update. Qualified unit has model number SM-G900V. The update will enable fingerprint scanner for unlocking Microsoft Exchange account while Galaxy Apps store will be auto-installed.

AT&T, being the last mobile carrier to update to Android 5.0 Lollipop for its Galaxy S5, is still heading to 5.1 before 5.1. However, there are reports AT&T might be jumping off to the final Lollipop since Marshmallow is already here.

LG, Motorola, and Sony are also updating their phones with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. However, exact date has not been specified.
