Jain and State Bank of India to Help Indian Farmers

The largest lending institution in India, the State Bank of India, is working out a partnership with Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd, the largest irrigation equipment manufacturer in Asia, to provide planned assistance to Indian farms in the reduction of water usage yet at the same time increase productivity.

The Jalgaon, India based Jain would be helping the bank identify India farmers that need financing assistance for micro-irrigation systems, according to an emailed statement from the bank. These would include drip and sprinkler irrigations systems that would help boost profitability of farms by allowing greater areas of farmlands to be irrigated with less water usage.

The company has altered the lives of many Indian farmers with its modern drip irrigation sytems. It uses PVC, Polyethylene and Polypropylene Piping Systems and other equipment. It also provides technical assistance for dehydration processes, hybridization and grafting as well as solar water heating systems and other photovoltaic appliances.

With the financial backing and technical support of the two institutions, identified farmers would surely be provided help in boosting productivity in the long run.
