Captain Marvel will not star in her standalone film until 2018, however, rumors have surfaced that Into the Woods actress, Emily Blunt might don the heroine's super suit. Meanwhile, MMA fighter Ronda Rousey has started her social media campaign for the role.

A rumor has surfaced from Meet the Movie Press that Emily Blunt finally signed on for the role of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel. However reports suggest that Blunt's involvement might not be true.

According to Movie Web, casting for an actress to play the role seem to be a bit unlikely given that a director has not been hired yet. But even with the lack of official announcement, reports suggest that aside from Blunt, Mad Max: Fury Road actress Charlize Theron might also be another strong candidate for the role.

Meanwhile, MMA Fighter Ronda Rousey previously admitted that she's interested at playing the role of Captain Marvel in a movie in a Reddit AMA. Now, as reported by IGN, she posted a couple of artworks of herself as the Marvel heroine.

In her Instagram account, she posted photos of her as Captain Marvel and captioned one of her posts saying, "Since the reddit AMA I've received so many badass Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel edits! There were so many cool ones I couldn't pick just one to share - here's 1 series of 2 Big thank you to contributing artists: @bosslogix (two on right) and @salman.artworks (left)."

Rousey is indeed in shape to play the character, and at 28, she is said to be in the right age range for the role. Aside from that she has also played roles in movies  The Expendables 3, Furious 7, and Entourage. However, according to /Film, her lack of experience in playing and carrying her own movie might be one of the hurdles in her way to getting the role.

As of writing, no actress has been confirmed to play the role yet, however, more details about the movie are expected to be revealed as production progress. Captain Marvel is based on the comic book by Gene Colan and Roy Thomas. Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman have been hired to write the script and is set to hit theaters on November 02, 2018.
